“My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” I John 2:1 (NKJV) The Advocate who is appointed for us will make sure that we escape the punishment and have freedom. But our job is to be sincere to Him and reveal all about us withholding nothing, so that He can help us. 1 John 1:8-10(NKJV)
Parable of the barren fig tree:
“He (Jesus) also spoke this parable: “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, ‘Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?’ But he answered and said to him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilise it. And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you can cut it down.’ ””Luke 13:6-9 (NKJV)
The vineyard owner is God and the keeper is our Lord who is pleading for us as an advocate, but how long the Lord Jesus will plead for us, if we decide not even to try and come out of sinful lifestyle and start bearing fruits. We should not test our Lord God by not bothering about His expectations of us. God will surely empower us, if only we pray and start resisting the temptation to sin. We have to pray and get help from our Lord God.
Be holy as God is holy: Hebrews 12:14-17(NKJV)
“Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”” 1 Peter 1:13-16 (NKJV)
We have to live a holy life, set apart life; which is out of the way the world is going right now. We children of God cannot participate in all the things worldly people do which are not pleasing to God. Doing like this your friends and neighbours might find it odd, but we should honour God’s Word than the people around you. You might develop some enemies being different, but all is worth losing to get good report from our God when we meet Him face to face.
