“Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”” John 4:21-24 (ESV)
Worship must bring God’s presence in the gathering or even in our individual prayer times. Only when we worship in spirit and truth, God can connect to us and work miracles and healings. If we do not understand this, we may be doing some sing-song services and programs just to entertain each other and God’s Spirit is not there to help anyone. You should be careful always to make sure God is well pleased in whatever you do. Jesus clearly said that we must worship God in spirit and truth.
Worship of Paul & Silas:
“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened.” Acts 16:25-26 (ESV)
We can see the kind of worshippers that pleased God and He was able to bring an earthquake and set people free; not alone those who are bound physically, but also spiritually and many got saved even in the jail. The fellow jailers too were sincere not to escape and the jailer and his family believed and took baptism that very night. Hallelujah! Let our worship bring souls and glory to God our Saviour. We can see the instruction is emphasised that true worshippers must worship in spirit and truth. Those who are not baptised by the Holy Spirit cannot understand spiritual things and cannot walk in spirit too. We all should labour to get this anointing and enter into spiritual lifestyle. Let us try our best to please God and not please our denomination or our own self set rules. We should remember that we have to give account to God in His presence about the things we have done which are not pleasing to Him.
Worship near the Throne of God:
“And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” And whenever the living creatures give glory and honour and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying, “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”” Revelation 4:1-11(ESV)
