We serve a prayer answering God; Jesus’s teachings, the books of the Old Testament and the affirmations of Jesus’s disciples in the books of the New Testament proclaim this repeatedly.
If you ask me (Jesus) anything in my name, I will do it – John 14:14.
And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him – 1 John 5:14,15
Yet many a times we fail to get the desired answers to our prayers due to doubt and unbelief that is fuelled by the feeling of guilt of our past sins and failures. In our heart and mind we keep confessing “I am such a sinner and God despises sin. How can this miracle happen for me in my lifetime?” and we disqualify ourselves from reaching the destiny that God has planned for us.
Condemnation is the work of the devil and he constantly works our mind against the plans and purposes of God making us believe contrary to the Word thus preventing us from seeing the answers to our petitions to God. It is true God despises sin and our God is the same yesterday today and forever and He has not lowered His standard even one measure. Yes we are sinners; but when we repent and submit to God our father; He is loving, just and faithful to accept us just as we are. When we accept Jesus as our Lord & Saviour by confessing the death of Jesus on the Cross for our sins; we are restored as His sons and daughters which is our rightful position in the Kingdom of God. It is by grace we have been saved through faith in Him not by our works as in Ephesians 2:8,9.
This is the blessing we are assured of under the New Covenant of which is written in Jer. 31:31-34 and again in Heb. 8:10-12. The New Covenant, a covenant by the blood of Jesus sets aside our past, present and future sins. “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:2). So only blessings are reserved for us; curses have been removed. So do not expect anything but blessings and even if anything bad should happen know that it is not from God. “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7). We have been made righteous as a consequence and set in right standing with God.
Lord God our Father answers our prayers and grants our desires when we approach Him without any guilt, fear or doubt; as sons and daughters, who we are once we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. It is the New Covenant that assures us of the gift of salvation which enables us to have all our prayers answered and be legitimate recipients of every blessing in the heavenly places that God has planned and purposed for us already. Believe in Jesus and be blessed.
