“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:14-19 (NKJV)
By the love poured into you by the Holy Spirit anointing, you will be strengthened so that Christ Jesus Himself comes into us by faith. Jesus operated in love when He did healings and miracles, He forgave sins of people with His love and gave Himself up on the Cross for the sins of all human race. When we understand this love of Christ which passes all our knowledge, you will be full of Godly love.
How to practice Godly love?
“Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”Matthew 7:12 (NKJV) Galatians 5:6, 13-15(NKJV)
- Unemotional love:
“Now great multitudes went with Him. And He turned and said to them, “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.” Luke 14:25-27 (NKJV) Our love for people should not be based on emotions. Emotions come and go but to love God more than all other relationships is a decision you make.
- Unconditional love:
“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:6-8 (NKJV) If anyone treats you wrong all the time and say things to you, you constantly show love. Your love for others should not depend on their behaviours.
- Returning love for hatred:
““But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.” Luke 6:27-28 (NKJV) When someone start hating you and cursing you, immediately, you in return, bless them right there without hesitation.
These we have to practice and stabilise in the love of God. You may fail sometimes but have to receive strength from the Holy Spirit praying and asking Him to help you. The Lord Jesus will respect those who are really trying to practice His love. These only will be ready to meet Jesus in His Second Coming. Jude 17-25(NKJV) To God be the glory!
