You can read the parable in Luke 15:11-32. The younger son who took his share and went away and swindled all the money, represents the unbelievers. He wandered away from Father and brother and wasted all the money power he had on bad friends and made use of none for himself too. When money got over and all his friends left him, he came back because he was hungry and decided to stay as a servant in Father’s house to have food, forfeiting his sonship.
The elder son staying with Father represent believers. He stayed with Father but never fellowshipped with Him. All the time he was thinking that he was sacrificing many things for His Father’s sake. He too did not make use of the abundance supply as a son at home but acted as if he was a servant and served complaining about the Father that he had not given anything; to have good time with his friends!
Anyway in this story it is very clear that both the sons did not understand the Father who represented God, His Love and His Heart. Father was ready to go on giving whatever he had to both of the sons’ needs, saying whatever belongs to Him belongs to them.
Because the sons, represented all of us, believers and nonbelievers alike; did not understand that they have inherited all that belongs to their Father, they are not making use of the things which are at their disposal. They could have had all that they wanted by using their authority. But they were fighting, complaining and roaming around as if they had nothing and the Father was preventing them from enjoying!
See the Fathers Heart. When the younger one asked for the portion of his property, he divided and gave the portion for both the sons by not showing any partiality. So the elder son too had his portion all along while the younger one spending it lavishly. The elder son could have partied as he wished with his friends instead of complaining to his Father too. Yet the Father accepted his complaints and declared that all that belongs to Him were his also. What a wonderful loving Father!
This parable Jesus gave to know the Heart of Our Father God so that we should understand Him better to enjoy and make use of the authority and resources that are available for us to live abundant life that He promised to give us by co-operating with Him instead of trying to run away from him to enjoy life with friends and pleasures. So our attention should be to be with God Father all the time and have non-stop party life. Finding out what pleases Him and bring friends too to party together. This is what God wants us to do.
God wants none of us to be far off and lost but instead come more and more closer to Him and learn from Him to live a fruitful life. We should consult with the Holy Spirit non-stop for everything and find out what pleases Him and what hurts Him. Do only what pleases Him, this is what a Christian Life should be. God needs a body, our bodies to establish His Kingdom and His Will on earth as it is in heaven. That is how we will be the body parts as Jesus being the head to operate in this world to bring honour and glory to God with His Power working in us. Ephesians 5:23(ESV)
“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptised into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church first 1apostles, second 2prophets, third 3teachers, then 4miracles, then 5gifts of healing, 6helping, 7administrating, and 8various kinds of tongues.” 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, 27-28 ESV
