We can see Lord Jesus was tempted by the devil and how the Lord took victory by using the Word of God. Luke 4:1-13(NKJV) Lord Jesus also mentioned that Judas Iscariot was possessed by the devil June 13:21-30(NKJV) and even how devil asked for Peter and that He prayed for him. Luke 22:31-34(NKJV)
So it is very clear there is an enemy out there for us but he is a defeated foe because Jesus Christ took victory over all his plans on the Cross for us. So now he is a defeated enemy, without any power of his own. The larger and final fight is over for those who believe in Christ Jesus. Yet it is our job to put him down under our feet, as Jesus did by using the Word of God as our weapon, putting our faith fully in what the Word of God is saying about us and not the lies of the devil, which he goes on putting in our minds as fiery darts. We have to stand and utilise our victory by firmly declaring it over the enemy and hold guard over our territory.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” I Peter 5:8-11 (NKJV)
Be sober: Here it comes in the meaning that we should be balanced. Devil always plays with our emotions making it go to the opposite extremes. He makes you too arrogant and proud or too depressed and defeated. Both these two extremes are the feeding ground for the devil. So we got to be sure you are balanced and be sober to keep the devil in place. Titus 2:6-8(NKJV)
Be vigilant: The devil comes in many forms. He comes through a friend or spouse who is so close to you. You must be thinking about this person whom you love and let the bad things happen to you or have a big fight against this person. But actually in spirit, the devil is behind this and we are very oblivious to this. Make sure the one who is fighting with you is always the devil coming in many forms. So attack the source and get delivered. Matthew 10:36(NLT)
Resist the devil: The word says all we got to do is resist him. Just dispose him off and take victory in the name of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit who is residing in you. Find the Word of God that is needed for that situation and speak over you. That is how you fight with faith. You believe in your heart the Word of God and confess with your mouth to take victory. James 4:7(NLT)
By doing the above you may suffer a little while but God, who called you for eternal glory by Christ Jesus will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
