Physical Blessings
Adam’s Blessings Genesis 1:28(ESV) Be fruitful & increase, subdue & rule the earth. God set up Eden Garden before man came into picture. Adam lost it by his disobedience.
Abraham’s blessings Genesis 12:2-3(ESV) Here God took control and made Abraham’s descendants into a Holy people and a nation to bless the whole world. To these people God gave THE LAW and said if they observe these, if they obey these; they would be blessed.
Blessings of obedience. Deuteronomy 28:1-14(ESV) If you obey the LORD YOUR GOD, only then these blessings follow otherwise you would be cursed. Deuteronomy 28:14-68(ESV) You can see the curses are way more than the blessings offered. But people found it very hard to follow the Law so God sent the second Adam Jesus to fulfil the Law. As God has promised to Abraham He made sure that you get them in Jesus.
All the blessings I mentioned above are physical blessings which God kept for His people was fulfilled in JESUS ON THE CROSS. Galatians 3:A10-14(ESV) 14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus so that by faith we receive the promise of the Spirit. The blessings we have through Jesus is not physical anymore. It is Spiritual blessings. We get them through our faith. You are Spiritual Being if you are born again. Romans 5:17-18(ESV) ; Romans 1:17(ESV). Speak these blessings on you and your kids claiming them in Jesus’ Name.
Spiritual Blessings
David considered these as blessings Romans 4:7-8(ESV) Blessed are they- whose transgressions are forgiven; whose sins are covered; whose sin the Lord will never count against him.
King David who had physical blessings, was yearning for sins and transgressions to be forgiven by God. Yes, this is the only blessing which everyone need more than anything else. David knew how sad you could be if your sins and transgressions were not forgiven and forgotten by GOD. Before Jesus this was not possible. So he tried to earn it. But Jesus took care of that on the cross. Matthew 27:50-53(ESV) And when Jesus gave up His last breath; the earth shook, rock opened, tombs opened up, the saints who were dead came alive and I am sure King David too came out on that day. Hallelujah!
While we were still sinners Christ died for us. Romans 5:6-9(NKJV) Since we have now been justified by His Blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him. All things that connected to sin also had been removed from our lives. Glory to God.
JESUS calls these as blessings
Jesus always talked about spiritual things when he was on earth. “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”Matthew 6:33 (ESV) The physical blessings are added to us as free gifts which cannot be bought. Do not toil or go after them either 1 Corinthians 15:19(ESV).
Jesus said, Blessed are- Matthew 5:1-12(ESV)
Poor in spirit (not proud)- theirs’ the kingdom of heaven.
Mourn (repent and pray for others)-they will be comforted.
The meek (Calm &wait on God)-they will inherit the earth.
Those who hunger &Thirst for righteousness-they will be filled (things will not fill you).
The merciful-they will be shown mercy.
Pure in heart (Not calculative & gossip)-they will see God.
Peace makers-they will be called sons of God.
Who are persecuted because of righteousness-theirs’ is the kingdom of heaven.
When people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven.
Blessed is he who is not offended because of Me. Matthew 11:6(ESV)
It is more blessed to give than to receive. Acts 20:35(ESV)
Blessed are those who have not seen Me yet believe. John 20:29(ESV)
Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. Revelation 22:14(NKJV)
We have to follow what The Lord taught us to do. If we could not do, ASK GOD TO HELP- “God help me to do these things.” He will help you. His presence is always with you. He has given us the POWER OF JESUS’ NAME, JESUS’ BLOOD AND HOLY SPIRIT. We should now concentrate on these which are blessings for us in this world and the world to come.
