“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:29-32 (NIV); Colossians 3:12-14(NIV)
When the disciples asked Jesus how many times we should forgive others, they put a limit saying 7 times. But Jesus answered and said 70 X 7 times. That means limitless times we got to forgive. Imagine if God had limited Himself forgiving you for certain numbers of times, where will we all stand? Thank God He loves us unconditionally. So we are also supposed to be like our Father God. Isaiah 54:9-10(NKJV)
Jesus talked about the unforgiving servant in one of His parables and was very clear how we got to be very careful. Because Father God will deal with you exactly the way you treat others under you. ““This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.”” Matthew 18:21-35(NIV) We should know our God and should know what pleases Him and not. Because knowing Him is the way to have eternal life.
““You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbour and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Matthew 5:43-48 (NIV)
Be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect. Do not give excuses saying “I am only a human” and continue to live a reckless life, not able to control yourselves, but expect everyone around you to put up with you. God rejects such kind of people and He will deal with such people very strictly. In the Lord’s Prayer we see and Jesus is elaborating saying, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Matthew 6:9-15(NIV) We are supposed to be Supernatural with all the power God had given us by His Holy Spirit. We should work hard to receive from God such power and use it in our lives and live an extraordinary life as Jesus did. If you would have received forgiveness from God that would empower you to forgive others also.
