Definition of complacency:
““And it shall come to pass at that time That I will search Jerusalem with lamps, And punish the men Who are settled in complacency, Who say in their heart, ‘The Lord will not do good, Nor will He do evil.’” Zephaniah 1:12 (NKJV)
This is the complacency in the world; those who do not believe God, say that if a God is there no bad things which the innocent people or children suffer. And those believe in God too think God is sovereign so can set all things right; in the sense God is bad and not preventing the bad happenings. Other thing the people in the world think is, God is not going to send anyone to hell because He is good, so whatever they can do they will do and God will accept and take them to heaven; in the sense God is good so He will take them to heaven considering their good side and will not punish with evil.
Free choice:
“For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.” 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 (NKJV)
God always give free choice to every human being and He never interferes with the decisions of every individual. He has set before them the right path to choose by accepting the sacrifice of His Son Jesus for the remission of sin and expect each and every person to choose the salvation comes from believing and receiving Jesus. Because He did not appoint anyone to suffer wrath to be on their own and try their best and fail in the end .
Suffer Wrath:
“But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”” Romans 2:5-6 (NIV)
Many Christians too make all wrong choices in their life and things go wrong then wonder why God allowed these. No, God is not involved in your life, if you are not following all His Commandments and not being obedience to His voice. You vehemently refusing to correct your shortcomings, excusing yourself and expecting others to put up with you. Such people God cannot let go as He being a Righteous Judge.
Receive Salvation:
“To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honour and immortality, God will give eternal life.” Romans 2:7 (NIV)
In salvation you learn all the right ways of living life according to the Will of God, and do all He commanded to do, getting strength from the Holy Spirit, who is residing in you, and you continue doing the right things till the end patiently, then God will give you eternal life. Jesus is clear, “And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.” Matthew 10:22; Luke 13:13 (NKJV) Again Jesus said, “Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.”
Matthew 24:11-13 (NKJV)
