Immortality in God’s Son Jesus Christ:
Jesus said, ”And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe. You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.” John 5:37-40 (NKJV)
Many like to read the Bible, even among non-Christians and know about Jesus, which testifies of Him, but as the Lord is saying they are not willing to come to Him, so that they may have life. Jesus did not come to make bad people good. He came to make dead people alive and give eternal life, a life after death. Why Jesus? Because He alone came alive, resurrected from the dead and has immortality and can give to those who believe in Him. We are all worried over a life here, which is short and temporary, but not spending enough time or investing in a life after death, which forever and permanent. We, who follow Jesus should be aware of this and prepare well for the life after death, by having close relationship with Jesus in our lives. Ephesians 2:4-6(NKJV)
“I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of Lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honour and everlasting power. Amen.” I Timothy 6:13-16 (NKJV)
He who has the Son has life everlasting:
”And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.“ 1 John 5:11-13 (NKJV)
So all these teachings are given to us to know that only when we abide in the Son of God and His words abide in us, we have eternal life, which is immortality. So we are not coming to the Lord all the time thinking of worldly requirements, but to have a relationship with God and to have eternal life. Our prayers should be to pray for spiritual requirements and to get power to practise them. This kind of prayers, the Lord is expecting us to pray, so that He can empower us with Holy Spirit and power to use us mightily. Having personal prayer time one on one with God in Jesus’ Name is required from us all, so that we can participate in eternal life. John 6:38-40(NKJV)
Jesus said, ”I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”“ John 6:48-51 (NKJV)
