”To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?” Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.“ John 8:31-36 (NIV)
Slaves to sin:
”What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?“ Romans 6:15-16 (NIV)
Any addiction or habit that controls you and you cannot be without that, then you are slave to that sin, which leads to death. Jesus loves you all the time, but you cannot keep sinning because you are not under law, but under grace. Grace is given by the Lord Jesus is to empower you to stop sinning. So your job is to repent saying you have sinned and ask the Lord to set you free, then the supernatural help comes from above and you can be free indeed. John 8:1-11(NIV)
Slaves to righteousness:
”But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.“ Romans 6:17-18 (NIV)
Now, do not stop only by delivered from being slaves to sin and keep empty place in your heart which is bad too; immediately become slaves to righteousness leading to holiness and eternal life. As once you could not stop doing that bad habits, now you should do all good works that are pleasing to God and no one can talk you out of that. Luke 11:24-26(NIV)
”What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.“ Romans 6:21-23 (NIV)
