“Now concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.” 1 Corinthians 8:1-3 (NKJV)
We should understand that we do not know all things yet, and should have a teachable heart to learn more. If some new revelation is revealed through someone, first of all one should be ready to listen. Then refer with the Bible in the hand and find out if this is true. And if so, change your life accordingly. This should be the spiritual lifestyle you maintain. Instead after listening to a sermon or a Bible study you go back the same way you came and refuse to change, thinking I know everything is not a healthy attitude.
Definition of love:
“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NKJV); John 15:12-14(NKJV)
Many will agree love is very important more than anything else and should practice love-life. But if a person is walking in love, the above characters should be there and this is to test and see whether we do. Loving God and loving people is the only Commandment we have to follow, which includes all the rest. Love- “bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things and endures all things. Love never fails”. Find out for sure whether we walk in love and if not ask the Lord to strengthen you in that area and His power really helps to overcome. All glory goes to GOD, WHO NEVER FAILS.
Definition of self-love:
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NKJV); Galatians 5:19-21(NKJV)
Selfish love, we see, has been practiced, and recommended in these last days: which is very pitiable. This is why many are troubled and lost orientation in their lives. Selfish person goes on taking from others and never get satisfied and always stay miserable. Selfless-love and service is what the Lord God expects of us, so that He can use us and we can be helpful to others. Jesus came to set you free from yourself and to look up and look around. This change of mind everyone got to attain to live a joyful life. It is not about us, IT IS ALL ABOUT JESUS.
