Narrow path or Broad path:
Jesus said, ““So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Matthew 7:12-14 (ESV)
“He (Jesus) went on his way through towns and villages, teaching and journeying toward Jerusalem. And someone said to him, “Lord, will those who are saved be few?” And he said to them, “Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us,’ then he will answer you, ‘I do not know where you come from.’” Luke 13:22-25 (ESV)
Narrow path is difficult to follow, that is to do what you wish others to do to you. Jesus is saying that this contains the whole Law and Prophets, in the sense, all the rules and teachings in the Bible want to lead you into. So if you follow the narrow path it leads you to Life but very few enter. Broad path is easy to do, easy because you are not following any rules and teachings, you do as you feel like doing. But this broad path leads to destruction and many enter it.
Goat or Sheep:
“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” Romans 8:5-8 ESV
“You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.” Romans 8:9 ESV “Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”” John 3:5-8 ESV
Goat – Flesh – Controlled by Satan
How do you find whether you are walking by flesh or by Spirit? 2 Timothy3:1-9(ESV) Emotionally affected always show that you are walking by flesh – Worry, disappointment, self-pity, seek fleeting happiness, short temper, disturbed by all things going around, try to do good but when small thing happens, give up.
Sheep – Spirit – Controlled by Holy Spirit
How do you find out that you are walking filled with Holy Spirit? Isaiah 42:1-9 Those who are lead by Holy Spirit – will not make noise, do not hurt other’s growth in God, will not falter, will not be discouraged, do justice, guide others as light, happy in all situations.
““When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left.” Matthew 25:31-46(ESV) Which group are you? Let us finalise.
