“For “He who would love life And see good days,
Let him refrain his tongue from evil,
And his lips from speaking deceit.
Let him turn away from evil and do good;
Let him seek peace and pursue it.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their prayers;
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”” 1 Peter 3:10-12 (NKJV)
In the Word, God had given simple solutions to all complicated life style people are having and going through troubles unnecessarily. Many are simple action of obedience needed from our part to attain the best result and carefree life style. Stop all means of doing evil and pursue peace with all men. In the sense you do your best for yourself and others and do not expect more than what others can do back to you. You be strict with yourself and be liberal with others, then you will have good peaceful life.
Wives submit to your husbands:
“Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear. Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.” 1 Peter 3:1-4 (NKJV); Ephesians 5:22-24(NKJV)
This applies in married life also. It sounds such a harsh word nowadays to say the wives to submit to their husbands. When the woman have a gentle and quiet spirit lot of life and peace prevail in the homes. And that itself is a kind of submission to the husband who is the head of the house. Only one commandment is given for the wives just like in the garden of Eden. If you obey then great blessings will follow. The verse above does not say the women should not adorn themselves and look plain and ugly. Wearing good things are needed for outward look, so do the good characters are needed for the inner love and peace; is not what explained there?
Husbands love your wives:
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.” Ephesians 5:25-29 (NKJV); 1 Peter 3:7-9(NKJV)
Husbands too are asked to do one commandment and that is to love their wives. And that too is very well explained saying it is easy, because the wives are their own bone and flesh so love them as their- selves is the way to obey the one commandment. All they have to do is an extended love for their own things including the wives. Because he who loves his wife loves himself. Is it a difficult thing to understand? So there is no big sacrificial actions needed as far as we see the verses above. All the difficulty a person goes through anyways to maintain himself. If we go through difficulties we also understand a bit of all the hardship Jesus went through for His Bride, the church and appreciate His Love for us.
“And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.”” Revelation 19:6-9 (NKJV)
