“For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. Because finding fault with them, He says: “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— In that He says, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.” Hebrews 8:7-8, 13 (NKJV)
Put new wine into new wineskins:
“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”” Mark 2:22 (NKJV)
Jesus gave this parable to make a clear point, which the learned of the Old Covenant people were refusing to accept and thought Jesus was blaspheming. Jesus told them clearly old wineskin cannot hold the new wine; if we try to fill then the wineskin will tear and the wine also will pour out. But how many of us are still finding it difficult to accept and suffering with many afflictions? God Himself gave the Old Covenant only to bring mankind to the end of themselves; seeing they could not keep all the laws in the commandments, so that later He could send a Saviour who could fulfil all the laws and make a New Covenant with His Blood and all can enter by faith. Luke 22:19-29(NKJV) How loving and caring is our Father God?! Many of our problems will be solved if we understand this.
Lord God remembers our sins & lawless deeds no more:
“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”” Hebrews 8:10, 12 (NKJV)
In the New covenant our blessings are not dependent on our good deeds but only on the finished work of Jesus. Our job is to believe and receive the blessings freely available and give God all the glory. Jesus deserves all the glory: because He did a perfect job redeeming us and remitted all our sins and remembers them no more. Let us believe that we are as perfect as Jesus. 1 John 4:17(NKJV)
