“Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” Romans 11:28-29 (NKJV)
Natural gifts and callings: 2 Chronicles 29:30(NKJV) ; 2 Samuel 6:5(NKJV) ; Acts 6:1-7(NKJV)
Natural gifts are given common to all namely – singing, playing musical instruments, leading, encouraging and serving. These we have to use for the Lord God and are very beneficial. We cannot be careless and not use for the glory of God. These gifts are very obvious and we find out easily. But these are available to all people whether they have received Jesus as their Lord and Saviour or not. But if you have these then definitely you can use for the kingdom of God. Actually the verse above is not talking about these natural gifts.
Spiritual gifts and callings: Exodus 4:1-17(NKJV) ; Jonah 2 ; Jeremiah 1:1-10(NKJV)
The spiritual gifts are the ones given by the Holy Spirit and calling is given to everyone who are Born again and Spirit filled. These gifts are given by the Will of the Spirit of God; and if we know what are the special gifts given to us out of the 9 gifts by the Holy Spirit it is good, and they are there with you forever. It will stay dormant if you do not use them, but if you use them, they manifest strongly in you and will be beneficial to you and many. These gifts are irrevocable, in the sense God will not take it back; so you should not give up thinking they are gone. Similarly, if you have calling to do any spiritual work in the Body of Christ, you are supposed to fulfil them, even though many hindrances happen. Many things will not work out automatically; that does not mean God changed His mind about you. We have to pursue our gifts and callings.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:28-31 (NKJV)
