“The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him. Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, “Are you also going to leave?” Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life. We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God.”” John 6:63, 66-69 (NLT)
Anyone who seeks eternal life will go after the red letters written in the New Testament as Jesus words. The disciples of Jesus too found His words give eternal life. We have a new covenant in Jesus’ Blood which is based on His Commandments and not Ten Commandments. We should find the difference in the teachings of Christ Jesus and take them as our guide to day to day life. His words teach us how to live wisely in this world as well as how to please the Father God too.
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” Hebrews 4:12-13 (NKJV)
Paul explains further how the Word of God is sharper than two-edged sword: John 12:44-46(NKJV)
- Cuts between Spirit & Soul – to give spiritual health
- Cuts between Joint & Marrow – to give physical health
- Cuts between Thoughts & Intentions – to give mental health
You can see the works of the Word in our inner beings to give a wholesome health to everyone who meditates on Jesus’ Words day and night.
John saw the glorified Jesus in His radiance and the sharp two-edged sword come out of His mouth: John 12:47-50(NKJV)
“It was the Lord’s Day, and I was worshiping in the Spirit. Suddenly, I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet blast. When I turned to see who was speaking to me, I saw seven gold lampstands. And standing in the middle of the lampstands was someone like the Son of Man. He was wearing a long robe with a gold sash across his chest. His head and his hair were white like wool, as white as snow. And his eyes were like flames of fire. His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and his voice thundered like mighty ocean waves. He held seven stars in his right hand, and a sharp two-edged sword came from his mouth. And his face was like the sun in all its brilliance.” Revelation 1:10, 12-16 (NLT)
The same sharp sword in Jesus’ mouth which is going to destroy the beast and the false prophet and their entire army of the kings of this world when Jesus comes on His white horse during His second coming. Revelation 19:11-21(NLT)
