Do not fall short of the Grace of God:
“Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled; lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.” Hebrews 12:14-16 (NKJV)
We should be careful to be under the Grace of God by maintaining peace with all people and be holy. Holy means to set apart and be uncommon. We should not act as the world do: by losing their peace and holiness for the sake of feeling free from the pressure of interacting with people. We should not develop any bitterness with a relationship; which will take a root in you and affect you more than the person you are feeling bad against. Many are affected by this in the world than any contagious disease that affecting their body and lifestyle.
Here the warning is given that by being hostile with people around, you might fall from the Grace of God. By the Grace of God alone we can survive in this world. Talking about Jesus, the Word of God says, “And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.” Luke 2:40 (NKJV) God’s Grace upon us is greater than life itself. So let us not develop any bitterness in our hearts about anything or anyone; otherwise we will lose our born-again inheritance which is kept for us in heaven and for which we strive, while we are in this world.
For our God is a consuming Fire:
“See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.” Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:25-29 (NKJV)
Now Jesus is speaking from Heaven for all of us to hear and prepare ourselves and be ready. We can see God is shaking many things on earth; some of the things that are to be removed and gone, so that some of the things which got to stay should remain. And if you come under the protection of the Grace of God, you can be safe and serve God with godly fear. For our God is a Consuming Fire, whose approach will consume all who are not under His Grace.
