We are the Temple of God: These are the three parts of the temple built for the true living God.
Courtyard – Body: Romans 12:1(NIV)
This place is at the entrance of the temple, where sacrificing of animals are made. People can enter to this point and do the rituals for sin and peace offerings. This represents the body, our bodies should be given as living-sacrifice to the Lord God. So when you want God’s presence you got to give your-selves and your desires up for the Lord and allow God’s desires and purposes as your priority. In this way your sinful nature dies and you prepare for holiness to come into you.
Sanctuary-Soul: Matthew 22:37(NIV)
This place is inside the temple where the menorah lamps, showbread and the incense-burning altar are, only the priests go in. Here they keep on burning the lamp and the incenses. The bread changed everyday. This should be your soul which renews everyday with the lamp of God, the Word and the teachings of the Apostles along with your incense of worship going continuously in your heart to God. Your mind and heart should be conscious of Lord God who loves you and should go on giving praises to Him irrespective of things going on in your lives. God made you kings and priests for Him that is your position.
Holy of Holies- Spirit: John 4:23-24(NIV)
In this place where the Ark of covenant is and only the high priest enters with blood of the Lamb to sprinkle on the mercy seat once a year for the sins of all. God’s eyes are on this, in between the cherubims, where the Blood of our Lord Jesus had been sprinkled for our sins once for all. The Holy of Holies is your spirit where Lord God communicates to you and you can hear Him and He hears whatever you are saying. This is how you, who are in Christ should communicate, that is prayer. You need not speak out loud through your mouth or shout and cry to be heard by God. God hears your hearts’ cry.
Now you can understand why the Word of God is saying you are the temple of God. And when you receive the anointing of the Holy Spirit Of God, He takes residence in your spirit and you become one with Him. That is how you are sealed together for the day of your redemption.
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:29-32 (NIV)
