“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” 3 John 1:2 (NKJV)
We are spirit being, living in a body and having a soul. The difference between a Christian and other people is that we are spiritually alive and they are dead in spirit. But we are made alive in the spirit with Jesus in God. “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”” John 4:24 (NKJV)
This truth that we are spirit being, we should all know, to bring such thoughts and beliefs in our soul part of our-selves and act accordingly. Only then our lives will be holy, different and set apart from worldly people. This change will also reflect in our bodily activities too. We can prosper in all we do and be in good health too. So to be successful and to look good we got to be totally changed in our soul by walking according to the spirit.
Soul consists of thoughts, emotions, wills or decisions. So what we think about all the time, feel or decide what to do, makes your soul prosper or be depressed. Many of us are so careless about what we are putting in our soul through hearing, seeing or speaking. If the input is wrong, then the output also will be the same. We got to guard our ear door Revelation 2:7(NKJV), eye door Luke 11:33-36(NKJV) and mouth door Mark 7:17-23(NKJV); Matthew 12:34(NKJV) . Make sure you are feeding godly things through these. This way you can purify your souls.
“Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,” 1 Peter 1:22 (NKJV)
Good loving life with pure heart starts with pure souls. When we are clean and perfect inside, good fruits of life’s success and good health will automatically follow us. So we should have good thoughts and emotions about us and others. Some feel they are useless all the time and some think very bad of all others except themselves, or a combination of both. This state of the souls do not prosper but find fault in themselves and others which will reflect on the bodies too.
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” Philippians 4:8 (NKJV)
