“For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.” Romans 12:4-8 (NKJV)Ephesians 4:7-16(ESV)
Prophecy: 1 Corinthians 14:37-39(ESV)
Speaking in tongues edifies every individual but prophesying edifies the church. So every organisation in the body of Christ should have prophetic vision. Prophecy is the highlight of all the gifts of the Holy Spirit. This is a command from the Lord Jesus.
Ministry: 2 Corinthians 5:17-19(ESV)
God has given us the ministry of reconciliation and not condemnation. God is not counting our trespasses against us. This we should keep in mind in ministering to people who started a new life believing in Christ. We should empower them with the word of God to live holy life.
Teaching: 2 Timothy 3:16(ESV)
Teachings should be based on the Scriptures, the Bible only, other stories and experiences of people should not be given more importance. Because people experience differently and that might deviate us from the truth. Miracles and healings may not take place to some people but that do not mean God had stopped doing all those things that are written in the Bible. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Exhortation: 1 Thessalonians 5:12-22(NKJV)
In doing God’s work exhortation should be done by comforting, upholding and with patient to the weak but at the same time firm in warning them from going astray. These all should amount to good for them as well as for ourselves.
Giving: Luke 6:37-38(ESV)
Give liberally because the same way you measure it will be measured back to you. So treat others the same way you want to be treated. This way you get back, added up, all good things you have done to others. Very simple.
Leading: Luke 6:39-40(ESV)
A blind cannot lead a blind. If the leader does not know or follow himself what he is preaching then both will fall. So a leader should be fully trained and tested so that he can guide many to life eternal.
Merciful: Luke 6:32-36(ESV)
Be like our Father God, who is treating everyone the same and showing mercy to all who repent. Our mercy and kindness be known to all, who want to know about the God we follow.
