Jesus said, ““No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him. And He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.” Luke 16:13-15 (NKJV)
Pagans go after money:
This is very obvious. Even in the worldly system we can see one person cannot be royal to two people. He will hate one and love the other. Same way if you are too involved in the world, you end up loving it. The worldly people, the pagans, call money as God. That is what they were taught and that is why they operate that way only. They will go to any extent for monetary gains. 1 Timothy 6:10(NKJV)
Jesus also said, “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:31-34 (NIV)
God’s children go after God:
We, children of God are supposed to live set apart life, which is holy life. Holy means ‘Set apart’. Our job is to seek after the kingdom of God and attain His righteousness. And all these things will be added to us viz. money and other things we need to live, in this life, here on earth. But most of us go after the world and act just like the worldly people making no distinction from them. Because of this we put the Kingdom of God in trouble and we get into lot of troubles. Always comparing ourselves with the worldly people is the wrong thing to do. They look smarter, happier, richer in our sight. But that is not the truth. We are far more better in position than them. They got Mammon, but we got God as our Father. Hebrews 13:5-6(NIV)
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” Romans 8:31-32 (NKJV)
Today, let us make a decision to serve God with all that we are and bless the Lord and be blessed.
