“For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 15:1-6(NKJV)
With one mind and one mouth glorify God the Father:
God wants us to be like-minded toward one another in Christ Jesus, so that we may be one mind and one mouth for the glory of Father God and for our Lord Jesus Christ. This is how we can show love for each other as the Lord commanded us to do. The stronger person in the body of Christ should know how to bear with weak people, loving them for their edification, and interact not to please ourselves.
“We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbour for his good, leading to edification. For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.”” Romans 15:1-3 (NKJV)
Christ did not please Himself:
Christ Jesus knew everything and was strong yet He did not please Himself but did everything to bless others and to edify others. Jesus went around healing people physically doing miracles and blessing them with encouraging words and revealing all the goodness of God. God has only good to share and has nothing bad to give. But as it is written all the people’s disapproval and rejection came upon Jesus and He bore them all. This is the cross we all got to carry to be the one mind and one mouth to glorify Father God.
Even now when gospel is preached many reject and show reproach; but it is our cross to bear with them and keep preaching the gospel, loving the person than loving ourselves. If we think of our feelings we will be very much discouraged and sometimes quit doing what the Lord commanded us to do. So we got to be very careful not to please ourselves, but to please God and please those people; who God loves the same as He loves us.
“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.” Matthew 16:24-25, 27 NKJV); Luke 9:23-26(NKJV)
