Let your “yes be yes” and “no be no”:
“But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.” Matthew 5:37 (NKJV); James 5:12 (NKJV)
We have to start from basic by not saying what the world calls white lie. They say it will not hurt anyone so that is fine. But our Lord Jesus is saying if you say “yes to no” and “no to yes” it is from the evil one, the devil. I always pray to the Lord to somehow make me escape from saying such lies and the Lord had helped me in such a way I could avoid such situations. But definitely it is very difficult to do this simple thing for us to follow Jesus.
Do not resist an evil person:
““You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.” Matthew 5:38-42 (NKJV)
This is the very famous sayings of Jesus in the world, that we have to turn the other cheek to the one who slaps you in one cheek. Someone wants to take away and ask for you to do something, let go and do more than they asked you. Let this not be a joke to us as to the world, but let us take all these teachings of Jesus Christ and try our best to follow. I believe our Lord Jesus will be well pleased if we try, and give us power and strength to do it perfectly in our future.
Love your enemies and pray for your persecutors:
““You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbour and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” Matthew 5:43-45 (NKJV)
We should start be neutral about our enemies, in the sense, if we could not love them, at least do not hate them so much also, but stay balanced in between first. Then ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit power to come upon us to lead us perfectly as the Lord God is perfect to love the enemies. If we ask for help for such things to have a victorious spiritual life, definitely divine help comes to bless us.
“Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Matthew 5:48 (NKJV)
