1.Law – I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”” Galatians 2:16-21(NKJV) “You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.” Galatians 5:4(NKJV)
GOSPEL IS, JUSTIFIED BY FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS
“knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.” Galatians 2:16(NKJV)
2. Grace – “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:5-7(NKJV)
e. g. 1 Abraham had 2 wives Titus 3:5-7(NKJV)
1. slave woman – man’s work – Hagar
2. Free woman – God’s promise -Sarah
e.g. 2 Two Testaments / Covenants John 15:10-12(NKJV)
1. Old Covenant – based on the Ten Commandments
2. New Covenant – based on Jesus’ Commandments
LOVE JESUS BY KEEPING HIS COMMANDMENTS
““If you love Me, keep My commandments.” John 14:15 NKJV
e.g. 3 Two Mountains Hebrews 12:18-24(NIV)
1. Mt. Sinai – Earthly Jerusalem
Burning with fire. Empty place. Darkened with smoke. Trumpets blast. Voice of God terrifying. Those who touch the mountain should be stoned. Moses trembled with fear.
2. Mt. Zion – Heavenly Jerusalem
City of the Living God. Thousands of angels. First-born’s assembly. Names written in the Book of Life. God – the judge of all men. Righteous made perfect. Jesus the Mediator. Jesus’ sprinkled blood.
e.g. 4. Two Sons – Son in flesh / Son in Spirit
1. Sons / daughters of Hagar – Slave’s son Troubles the son of free woman
2. Sons / daughters of Sarah – son of free woman is the one who has authority
CHILDREN OF FLESH VS CHILDREN OF SPIRIT
“Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise. But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the free woman.” So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free.” Galatians 4:28-31(NKJV)
The slave woman and his son should be sent out, that is why the same persecution happens even now in the Body of Christ. We are not the children of the slave woman. We are the children of Free woman, Sarah. And our job is to make sure we are under the Grace of God by just accepting the gift of righteousness God had provided in CHRIST JESUS and should not try to follow all the Law to obtain self-righteousness. Walk in freedom by the Grace of God and should not go back to bondage trying to keep the Law. “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” Galatians 5:1(NKJV)
If you humble yourself under God’s Grace sin will not overpower you and you will be able to keep the Law perfectly also. “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.” Romans 6:14(NKJV) You became righteous by accepting God’s Grace and now walk in righteousness. You cannot give what you do not have. So believe you are made righteous by Grace and walk in it. Receive Grace from God and show Grace to others.
e.g. if you are wearing a very beautiful white dress and if someone tells you to sit on a dusty place, you will not agree. Likewise, if you know you are made righteous, you cannot sin. Romans 5:17(NKJV)
