Spirit of fear / Spirit of sonship:
“For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”” Romans 8:13-15 (NKJV)
Our path is not easy, there will be thorns, glass pieces, rocky, water, fire. This is life. But with God we are lifted up with grace like children in His hands. So where our concentration is matters, that decides whether you are bound or going forward.
1. Fear makes you forget / Holy Spirit will bring to your remembrance.
You quickly forget all the wonderful things God had done to you in the past.
Elijah forgot this chanting –
“And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, “The Lord, he is God; the Lord, he is God.”” 1 Kings 18:39 (ESV)
Elijah feared these words –
“Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So may the gods do to me and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by this time tomorrow.” Then he was afraid, and he arose and ran for his life and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.” 1 Kings 19:2-3 (ESV)
Like that God has done countless miracles and gave countless grace and we don’t praise Him remembering them because the fear stops us. When we pray in tongues and the Holy Spirit of God will bring to your remembrance all the blessings you received and all the prophecies about your future spoken which God will fulfil.
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” John 14:26 (NKJV)
2. Fear won’t allow you to pray right. / The Holy Spirit will pray with groanings for you.
Elijah prayed well –
“So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Mount Carmel. And he bowed himself down on the earth and put his face between his knees.” 1 Kings 18:42 ESV
Elijah could not pray right –
“But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he asked that he might die, saying, “It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life, for I am no better than my fathers.” And he lay down and slept under a broom tree. And behold, an angel touched him and said to him, “Arise and eat.” 1 Kings 19:4-5 (ESV)
God did not talk about Jezebel at all, only Elijah was concentrating on her. Same way we concentrate on the obstacles unnecessarily. God told Elijah you have long distances to go so just go. Even the shadow of Elijah was not touched by Jezebel because God did not allow her to touch.
“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:26-27 (NKJV)
3. Fear makes you panic / Spirit of God gives power, love and sound mind
We should not worry about tomorrow’s problem. If God is quiet when you pray that means He already solved that problem and that is why He is quiet.
Disciples panicked and complained to Jesus –
“On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”” Mark 4:35, 37-40 (NKJV)
Jesus spoke and had faith to go to the other side of the sea and that’s why when storm came he was sleeping.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
4. Fear magnifies the evil / Worship in Spirit and truth magnifies God
The reason for our fear is to concentrate on the things which God did not mind at all.
God said to Moses to take control –
“And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.” Exodus 14:15-16 (NKJV)
We should not give attention to the voices of the enemy. Like the noises of the Pharaoh’s army behind them chasing in the wilderness and they allowed fear. They gave attention to that and that’s why God said to Moses do not cry to me. God hates people talk big of the enemy. But God likes people to talk big of Him in front of the enemy.
“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”” John 4:23-24 (NKJV)
5. Fear binds you / Spirit of the Lord gives you liberty
Devil’s work is to bind you with people talking about you badly.
King Saul got intimidated by David –
“Now it had happened as they were coming home, when David was returning from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women had come out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy, and with musical instruments. So the women sang as they danced, and said: “Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands.” Then Saul was very angry, and the saying displeased him; and he said, “They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed only thousands. Now what more can he have but the kingdom?” So Saul eyed David from that day forward.” 1 Samuel 18:6-9 (NKJV)
Even King Saul did not consider people talking bad of him one time, but when they praised David saying “Saul killed 1000 but David killed 10,000”, he gave attention to that and was jealous and got into big trouble. As a verse says the very pit that was dug they themselves fall. (Psalms 57:6).
“Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (NKJV)
“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4 (ESV)
